High protein chocolate frosty

High-Protein Chocolate Frosty 🍫

A thick, creamy, Wendy’s-style chocolate frosty made at home! This version is rich in chocolate flavour, high in protein, and has a smooth, spoonable texture without needing an ice-cream maker.

Prep time: 5–10 minutes Freezing time: 30–60 minutes (optional) Servings: 1 large or 2 small

Ingredients

Plain Greek yogurt

1 cup (225–240 g)

Chocolate protein powder

1 scoop (25–30 g)

Unsweetened cocoa powder

1 tbsp

Milk

2–4 tbsp (30–60 ml)

Ice cubes

½–1 cup

Honey, maple syrup, or sweetener

1–2 tsp, to taste

Vanilla extract

ΒΌ tsp (optional)

Salt

A tiny pinch (optional)

Detailed instructions

Step 1: Prepare the base

Add the Greek yogurt, chocolate protein powder, cocoa powder, sweetener, vanilla, and pinch of salt to a blender.

  • Use thick Greek yogurt for the creamiest result.

  • If your protein powder is already sweetened, start without extra sweetener.

  • Dutch-process cocoa gives a smoother chocolate flavour, but regular unsweetened cocoa works too.

Step 2: Blend until creamy

  1. Add 2 tablespoons of milk.

  2. Blend for 20–30 seconds until the mixture is smooth.

  3. Add ice cubes gradually, starting with Β½ cup.

  4. Blend again until thick and creamy.

If the mixture is too thick to blend, add milk 1 tablespoon at a time. Avoid adding too much, or the frosty may become runny.

Step 3: Adjust the texture

Check the consistency with a spoon.

  • Too thin? Add a few more ice cubes or freeze for 15–20 minutes.

  • Too icy? Add 2 tablespoons of Greek yogurt and blend again.

  • Not chocolatey enough? Add another teaspoon of cocoa powder.

  • Not sweet enough? Add a little more sweetener.

Step 4: Chill for the frosty texture

Transfer the mixture to a freezer-safe container and freeze for 20–30 minutes, stirring once halfway through.

Check it regularly. You want it thick and spoonable, not frozen solid. If it becomes too firm, leave it at room temperature for 5–10 minutes and stir well.

Step 5: Serve

Spoon into a chilled glass or bowl. For extra flavour, top with a light dusting of cocoa powder or a few chocolate shavings.

Approximate nutrition

For the full recipe using plain Greek yogurt, one scoop of protein powder, cocoa, and a small amount of honey:

Calories

280–380

Protein

35–45 g

Carbohydrates

15–35 g

Fat

3–10 g

Estimates vary by yogurt, protein powder, milk, and sweetener. Ice adds negligible calories.

Three easy variations

  • Extra thick: Freeze the Greek yogurt in cubes before blending, and use less ice.

  • Chocolate brownie: Add 1 tsp extra cocoa and 1 tbsp finely chopped dark chocolate.

  • Lower calorie: Use nonfat Greek yogurt, a low-calorie sweetener, and unsweetened almond milk.

Best tip: For the closest soft-serve frosty texture, use frozen yogurt cubes, a good chocolate protein powder, and only enough milk to get the blender moving. This gives you a thick, creamy treat without watering down the chocolate flavour.
